Winter Maintenance Update

A Blog Post By: Craig McKinley, Golf Course Superintendent

During the course of the winter, our Mechanic, Bill, inspects every piece of equipment from top to bottom, in order to ensure that our club's investments are working at the highest level. He also grinds all of the reels that cut our turf with our Foley self-contained grinder that we purchased two seasons ago. Having this grinder allows us to do a job that was outsourced in years past. The two advantages are that we can do our own quality control regarding sharpness of reels, and it can be done in-season to ensure a quality cut.

The winter also gives us time to repair course accessories and give them a face-lift. For example, tee markers are sanded down and given a fresh coat of paint and clear coat.

Hope you are staying warm and enjoying the winter. Stay tuned for more updates from your Bucks Run Grounds Staff.
