Project Wrap-Up

The Grounds Team has been busy putting the finishing touches on the spring projects. We had a pretty aggressive schedule and work has been progressing well.

Bucks Run Golf Club Mount Pleasant MI Tee 11 Renovation

I’m happy to report all of the new tees are open for play. As you can see in the picture above, #11 looks great. To speed up the process, we had to borrow (steal) sod from the beginning of #2 fairway as shown in the below picture. It will be seeded to Bluegrass and maintained as rough going forward.

We also had a contractor come in and grind close to 100 stumps. They will be sodded or seeded depending on location. As you can see in the image below, we were pretty aggressive with tree removal around #5 green. The green needed more light and air, and the rough surrounding the green needed less competition from trees. As you can see in the picture, we are currently in the process of seeding the areas around #5 green. Also, note how thin the grass is. When trees and grass compete, there is only one winner -- the tree. We will push these areas through the season with seed, water, and fertilizer to improve the density of the rough surrounding the green.

Last, but not least, a new section of cart path was installed on #13. We still need to topsoil and seed the cart path edge, which should be done in the coming days.

Our Grounds Team continues to work hard making Bucks Run the best it can be. We hope to see you on the course soon. Have an enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend!
