How to Make a Beautiful Thanksgiving or Christmas Centerpiece

A Blog Post from our Banquet & Event Planning Department

The holiday season is upon us, which means the next month will be filled with food, family, and friends. A big part of any Thanksgiving or Christmas celebration is the meal. If you are the host or hostess this holiday season, it’s your number one job to start planning out the menu. However, you also want to come up with a nice centerpiece as the focal point of your holiday table decor.

From flowers and fruits to pine cones and berries, your centerpiece should reflect the season, as well as your style. If you’re an avid golfer, you can even add a golf theme to your centerpiece that fellow diners may find whimsical. Check out some ideas on how you can make a beautiful Thanksgiving or Christmas centerpiece.

Maize Vase

Perfect for Thanksgiving, a maize vase can transform any old vase into a beautiful seasonal attraction. Spray paint dried corn cobs in metallic hues, tie them around a vase with raffia, then add bunches of vibrant golden, white, and red blossoms, interspersed with green fern and cranberries. You can even spray paint some small decorative pumpkins in gold to scatter around the base.

Cranberry Candles

For a simple yet stunning centerpiece, choose five votive candles in reds and greens, and place them in a vertical line along a red rectangular serving dish. Add cranberries along the sides, stick in a few pine needle twigs and pine cones, and dust with artificial snow.

Winter Whites

In a wooden bowl, place white chrysanthemums and branches of white pine, with a birch pillar candle in the middle. You can create this arrangement by wetting some florists foam with water, setting it into the bowl, nestling the candle in the center, and inserting pine branches and mum stems, as well as white spider chrysanthemums, white football mums, and white garden mums for a nice variety. Add some finishing touches with gray-green dusty miller around the edges. With the above ideas, you’re sure to impress your guests this holiday season.
