Season Review - Part III

In the 3rd and final part of my season review, I highlight a final change that was made to the Grounds Department’s Program in the beginning of the 2014 season.

In April, we installed drain tile on 12, 15 and 16 fairways. Each of the three areas had chronic wet areas that needed to be addressed. It was a quick, one-day project that yielded very good results. The spots dried up nicely and provided much better playing conditions in 2014. Also throughout the season, we added risers to existing tile to help remove surface water faster. Below is an image from spring of this year, which shows some of the new drainage tile being installed on #16 fairway.

Drainage is an ongoing project every year, on about every golf course. You are either adding new or repairing old lines -- Bucks Run is no exception to this, which can be seen in the below image.

In summary, you can see the Grounds Department worked tirelessly to improve course conditions for you around the course in 2014, and we look forward to what the 2015 season has to bring. I would like to also take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
